Questa opera fa parte della mia serie “precious moss” (muschi preziosi) e prende spunto dalla concezione anthropocentrica che considera l'essere umano al centro dell'universo. Se i filosofi precedenti a Socrate si interessavano principalmente alla natura circostante, Socrate e i sofisti dell'antica Grecia intendono la centralità come la superiorità della conoscenza dell'uomo rispetto al resto del regno animale e vegetale. Questa fotografia incorniciata trovata ad un mercatino dell'antiquariato invece porta le date probabili della vita del soggetto sul retro che sono 1876-1922. Questi anni coincidono con la seconda rivoluzione industriale che rappresenta il maggior sviluppo nel campo scientifico e tecnologico come la scoperta di nuove fonti di energia come petrolio ed elettricità e dei nuovi sistemi di comunicazione e trasporto che portano al commercio mondiale e una serie di cambiamenti per la nostra vita su questo pianeta. L'uomo è il più grande nemico della natura che va imprigionato secondo me se non smette di inquinarla e sfruttarla.

This work is part of my "precious moss" series and is inspired by the anthropocentric conception that considers the human being to be the center of the universe. If the philosophers preceding Socrates were mainly interested in the surrounding nature, Socrates and the sophists of ancient Greece understand centrality as the superiority of man's knowledge over the rest of the animal and vegetable kingdom. This framed photograph found at an antiques market bears the probable dates of the subject's life on the back which are 1876-1922. These years coincide with the second industrial revolution which represents the major development in science and technology such as the discovery of new sources of energy such as oil and electricity and new communication and transportation systems leading to world trade and a series of changes for the our life on this planet. Man is nature's greatest enemy who should be imprisoned in my opinion if he doesn't stop polluting and exploiting it.
